Cycling Accident Claims

Cycling is an increasingly popular choice of transport in the UK. It’s healthy, it’s not harmful to the environment and it’s much cheaper than owning and driving a motor vehicle.

However, cyclists are forced to share roads designed for motor vehicles, increasing the chances of an accident, therefore increasing cycling accident claims.

In fact, over 16,000 cyclists are injured in the UK each year, 3,000 of which are killed or seriously injured – and as if that wasn’t bad enough, a quarter of these statistics are children.

Cycling accident claims follow incidents of all kinds, including:

  • Drivers turning right in front of a oncoming bicycle
  • Motorists hitting a bicycle when changing lanes or overtaking
  • Car doors being swung open as cyclists approach
  • Drivers hitting cyclists when turning left where the cyclist is on the inside

However it was caused, if you feel it wasn’t your fault and you have suffered following the accident, you could be eligible to make a cyclist compensation claim.

Cycling Accident Compensation Claims

As a cyclist, you are at a much higher risk of being harmed in an accident than someone who is driving or inside a motor vehicle. Protection to your body is limited, even if you’re wearing a helmet and body protection, and when colliding with a large, strong vehicle, the impact is going to effect you and your bicycle most.

Cycling accident claims work in basically the same way as any other road accident claim. It must first be established who was at fault for the accident. Then, your injuries must be taken into account.

Any time off work, along with any medical charges, costs for daily care and damages to your bike can be fully compensated for.

Cycling accident claims are eligible to be made when the accident took place on a public road, a car park, on private property or even on privately owned mountain bike tracks.

Do You Want to Make a Claim?

If you have been unlucky enough to be knocked off your bike by a vehicle or you’ve been injured due to some other form of negligence, such as damage to the road, you could make a claim for compensation.

The process doesn’t take long at all, and you can receive your compensation in no time.

At Beardsells Personal Injury, we can assess your claim free of charge and inform you as to whether you are eligible to make a claim, as well as give you a rough idea of how much compensation you could receive.

We work on a no win no fee basis, so you literally have nothing to lose. Get in touch with us today for more information on cycling accident claims.
